我看後有所驚醒，因我也忘記箇中道理了。
請照主旨之順序讀 :

1.誤會； 2.釘子； 3.且慢下手； 4. 寬大

1.誤會 :

早年在美國阿拉斯加地方，有一對年輕人結婚，婚後生育，

他的太太因難產而死，遺下一孩子。

他忙生活，又忙於看家，因沒有人幫忙看孩子，就訓練一隻狗，

那狗聰明聽話，能照顧小孩，咬著奶瓶餵奶給孩子喝，撫養孩子。

有一天，主人出門去了，叫牠照顧孩子。

他到了別的鄉村，因遇大雪，當日不能回來。

第二天才趕回家，狗立即聞聲出來迎接主人。他把房門開一看，到處是血，

抬頭一望，床上也是血，孩子不見了，狗在身邊，滿口也是血，

主人發現這種情形，以為狗性發作，把孩子吃掉了，

大怒之下，拿起刀來向著狗頭一劈，把狗殺死了。

之後，忽然聽到孩子的聲音，又見他從床下爬了出來，

於是抱起孩子；雖然身上有血，但並未受傷。

他很奇怪，不知究竟是怎麼一回事，再看看狗身，

腿上的肉沒有了，旁邊有一隻狼，口裡還咬著狗的肉；

狗救了小主人，卻被主人誤殺了，這真是天下最令人驚奇的誤會。

註：誤會的事，是人往往在不瞭解、無理智、無耐心、缺少思考、

未能多方體諒對方，反省自己，感情極為衝動的情況之下所發生。

誤會一開始，即一直只想到對方的千錯萬錯；因此，會使誤會越陷越深，

弄到不可收拾的地步，人對無知的動物小狗發生誤會，

尚且會有如此可怕嚴重的後果，這樣人與人之間的誤會，則其後果更是難以想像。

2.釘子 :

有一個男孩有著很壞的脾氣，於是他的父親就給了他一袋釘子；

並且告訴他，每當他發脾氣的時候就釘一根釘子在後院的圍籬上。

第一天，這個男孩釘下了37 根釘子。慢慢地每天釘下的數量減少了。

他發現控制自己的脾氣要比釘下那些釘子來得容易些。

終於有一天這個男孩再也不會失去耐性亂發脾氣，他告訴他的父親這件事，

父親告訴他，現在開始每當他能控制自己的脾氣的時候，就拔出一根釘子。

一天天地過去了，最後男孩告訴他的父親，他終於把所有釘子都拔出來了。

父親握著他的手來到後院說：你做得很好，我的好孩子。

但是看看那些圍籬上的洞，這些圍籬將永遠不能回復成從前。

你生氣的時候說的話將像這些釘子一樣留下疤痕。

如果你拿刀子捅別人一刀，不管你說了多少次對不起，那個傷口將永遠存在。

話語的傷痛就像真實的傷痛一樣令人無法承受。

註：人與人之間常常因為一些彼此無法釋懷的堅持，而造成永遠的傷害。

如果我們都能從自己做起，開始寬容地看待他人，

相信你（妳）一定能收到許多意想不到的結果.... 幫別人開啟一扇窗，
也就是讓自己看到更完整的天空 ....

3.且慢下手

大多數的同仁都很興奮，因為單位裡調來一位新主管，據說是個能人，專門被派來

整頓業務；可是日一天天過去，新主管卻毫無作為，每天彬彬有禮進辦公室，

便躲在裡面難得出門，那些本來緊張得要死的壞份子，現在反而更猖獗了。

「他那裡是個能人嘛！根本是個老好人，比以前的主管更容易唬！」

四個月過去，就在真正努力為新主管感到失望時，

新主管卻發威了－－壞份子一律開革，能人則獲得晉昇。

下手之快，斷事之準，與四月表現保守的他，簡直像是全然換個人。

年終聚餐時，新主管在酒過三巡之後致詞：

「相信大家對我新到任期間的表現，和後來的大刀闊斧，一定感到不解，

現在聽我說個故事，各位就明白了：「我有位朋友，買了棟帶著大院的房子，

他一搬進去，就將那院子全面整頓，雜草樹一律清除，改種自己新買的花卉，

某日原先的屋主往訪，進門大吃一驚的問：『那最名貴的牡丹哪裡去了？』

我這位朋友才發現，他竟然把牡丹當草給剷了。

後來他又買了一棟房子，雖然院子更是雜亂，他卻是按兵不動，

果然冬天以為是雜樹的植物，春天裡開了繁花；

春天以為是野草的，夏天裡成了錦蔟；半年都沒有動靜的小樹，秋天居然紅了葉。

直到暮秋，它才真正認清哪些是無用的植物，

而大力剷除，並使所有珍貴的草木得以保存。」說到這兒，主管舉起杯來：

「讓我敬在座的每一位，因為如果這辦公室是個花園，你們就都是其間的珍木，

珍木不可能一年到頭開花結果，只有經過長期的觀察才認得出啊！

4.寬大 :

這是一個甫自越戰歸來的士兵的故事。

他從舊金山打電話給他的父母，告訴他們：「爸媽，我回來了，可是我有個不情之請。
我想帶一個朋友同我一起回家。」「當然好啊！」他們回答「我們會很高興見到的。」
不過兒子又繼續下去「可是有件事我想先告訴你們，他在越戰裡受了重傷，

少了一條胳臂和一隻腳，他現在走投無路，我想請他回來和我們一起生活。」

「兒子，我很遺撼，不過或許我們可以幫他找個安身之處。」

父親又接著說「兒子，你不知道自己在說些什麼。

像他這樣殘障的人會對我們的生活造成很大的負擔。

我們還有自己的生活要過，不能就讓他這樣破壞了。

我建議你先回家然後忘了他，他會找到自己的一片天空的。」

就在此時卻l掛上了電話，他的父母再也沒有他的消息了。

幾天後，這對父母接到了來自舊金山警局的電話，

告訴他們親愛的兒子已經墜樓身亡了。警方相信這只是單純的自殺案件。

於是他們傷心欲絕地飛往舊金山，並在警方帶領之下到停屍間去辨認兒子的遺體。

那的確是他們的兒子沒錯，但驚訝的是兒子居然，只有一條胳臂和一條腿。

故事中的父母就和我們大多數人一樣。
要去喜愛面貌姣好或談吐風趣的人很容易，

但是要喜歡那些造成我們不便和不快的人卻太難了。

我們總是寧願和那些不如我們健康，美麗或聰明的人保持距離。

然而有些人卻不會對我們如此殘酷。

他們會無怨無悔地愛我們，不論我們多麼糟總是願意接納我們。

今晚在你入睡之前，請試著去接納他人，

不論他們是怎麼樣的人；請用心去了解那些不同於我們的人。

每個人的心裡都藏著一種神奇的東西稱為「友情」，

你不知道它究竟是如何發生何時發生，但你卻知道它總會帶給我們特殊的禮物。

朋友就像是稀奇的寶物。他們帶來歡笑，激勵我們成功。

他們傾聽我們內心的話，與我們分享每一句讚美。

他們的心房永遠為我們而敞開。現在就告訴你的朋友你有多在乎他們。

有一位婦人，辛苦地支撐著一個家，卻從來沒有得到家人的任何感激。有一天晚上，她問她的先生：「親愛的，我在想，哪一天我死了，你會不會花錢買一束花獻給我呢？」　
「當然會的。」她的丈夫十分爽快地回答她。　
「可是，親愛的，你為什麼會提這樣一個問題呢？」　
婦人說：「我只是在想，其實到那個時候，鮮花對於我來說已經沒有用了，我更希望現在能得到一束鮮花，這對我來說，更有意義。」　
是啊，我們每個人都不善於對最親密的人表達自己的愛意，因為習慣或者因為漠視…… 　
但是，你知道對方在期盼你的一個鼓勵和讚許的目光嗎？愛還是要說出來，讓別人知道，讓別人知道你愛他們，欣賞他們。　
影星章子怡曾經說過這樣一件事。　
在ㄧ個晚會上，章子怡與穿戴性感的李玟擦肩而過，章子怡沒有主動打招呼。因為，雙方雖都是中國人，但兩人出生環境不一樣，性格不一，而且也不相識。

釀造美麗的心情
一個燠熱的黃昏，我正為了炒菜做飯忙得不可開交，我的先生也跟著我團團轉。這是他的好意，就算他沒在做事，但看我在忙，他也總想來幫個忙，或是問我有什麼需要他幫忙的。我很感激他的好意，但看到他在一旁轉來轉去，卻讓我更緊張了。就在我火氣很大時，我的先生突然往窗外看看，然後好整以暇地說：
「老婆，快來看，快來看，好漂亮呀！」
我一聽就不耐煩地說：「等一下啦！我現在沒空！」
我說話的語調好像在責怪他沒有幫到忙，還在偷懶。但實際上我又不需要他的幫忙。總而言之，他也不開心地安靜下來了。等五分鐘過後，我覺得自己的態度太不好了，便走過去問他要我看什麼？他這才說了：「五分鐘前滿天的彩霞，好漂亮。現在已經沒有了。」
我隨著他的手指往窗外看，一片昏黃的夕照將天空染成淡黃色的，實在沒什麼稀奇。我也回頭再做自己的事，這個黃昏就這樣過了。
幾天後的一個清晨，我起床準備早餐，然後叫孩子起床、上學。通常我都是全家最早起的一個人，這天也不例外。我依照慣例拉開窗簾，打開窗戶，然後我看到滿天層次分明的彩雲，一層淡紫、一層粉紅，邊緣還鑲著淡淡的金光，迤邐到天邊才漸漸淡去。
面對著天然的神奇畫面，我有一種感動，也很想叫我的先生來與我分享這樣的感動，但是時間還早，我不想打擾他的睡眠，便想等一下再說吧。結果我才轉個身，再一回頭，天空已完全改變了，剛才那幅美景已經換掉了，太陽睜著金亮的眼睛照到我的窗戶上了。這時就算去把我先生叫醒，也來不及欣賞那樣神奇的美麗了。
我有點悵然的離開了那扇窗子，就在那一剎那間，我突然想到幾天前我的先生也是要我看窗外滿天的晚霞，卻因為我的不耐煩，使我錯過了人間的美景，想必當時他的心情也和我一樣悵然若失吧！
原來當我們在看到或經驗到任何美好的東西時，我們都會有心與人分享，特別是我們深愛著的人，但是這時總是有一些因緣際會使我們錯失了分享的機會，或許是因為當時某一方心情不好，或許是因為對方剛好不在身邊，或是任何的理由使我們害怕分享、無法分享、不懂得分享或拒絕分享、不願意分享，雙方的關係自然漸行漸遠了。
最重要的是，如果不能當時立即分享內心的感動，時過境遷，有時就算想說出來也不知從何說起了。其實分享只是一種心靈的溝通而已，有時並不需要有實質的東西才能與人分享。即使只是一起分享花開日落的美麗，都是種很輕鬆容易的溝通方式。而在分享的過程中，我們也增進了對彼此的了解與關懷。這也才是能釀造甜蜜關係的開始吧！
因此現在無論我手邊有多忙，只要我先生要我看任何東西，無論是貓在打架或小鳥在吃水果，我都會立刻放下手邊的工作，走過去看一下。因為我知道分享的機會稍縱即逝，如果我不懂得掌握，沒有人能幫我留住那天然的美麗與感動的。

News.
My friend saw a man at Novena MRT ATM trying to get all the receipts
Out of the ATM bin.
Please read the following message from a friend of mine,it's true.

Be careful when u draw cash from ATM with receipt which complete with your account number.
Never, never throw the receipt in the public bin
Even if u must tear into small pieces before throwing it away.
Today, just got a call from my sister that she had lost all her cash
From her account.
She threw the receipt into the bin provided at ATM recently.
Luckily, she only has $633/= in her account.
Not much of suspicious when she was left with $11/=because she thought it
Was her petrol GIRO payment, however,
that's not true.

She only got to know it when the petrol company, Mobil cut-off the

Petrol card's transaction when she realized something is wrong.

After checking with the bank,

She was told that now there is this syndicate who will pick up the ATM

Receipt & with their IT expert, they are able to draw out your money .

The bank will not be able to trace where these people had drawn the

Money & how they do it, don't ask me, even the bank can't answer it.

They can only advise you to report the case to the police for

Investigation. My sister is the third victim in this month

This means that the website is talking to your browser using the regular 'unsecure' language.

In other words, it is possible for someone to "eavesdrop" on your computer's conversation with the website.

If you fill out a form on the website, someone might see the information you send to that site.

This is why you never ever enter your credit card number in an http website!

But, if the web address begins with https://; HTTPS://, that basically means your computer is talking to the website in a secure code that no one can eavesdrop on.

You understand why this is so important, right?

If a website ever asks you to enter your credit card information, you should automatically look to see if the web address begins withhttps:// ;HTTPS://.

If it doesn't, there's no way you're going to enter sensitive information like a credit card number.

It is more than 1,000 yards long, covers 20 acres, had a 115ft deep end and
holds 66 million gallons of water.

Yesterday the Guinness Book of Records named the vast pool beside the sea
in Chile as the biggest in the world.

But if you fancy splashing out on one of your own - and you have the space to accommodate it - then beware: This one took five years to build, cost nearly 1 billion and the annual maintenance bill will be 2 million.

The man-made saltwater lagoon has been attracting huge crowds to the
San Alfonso del Mar resort at Algarrobo, on Chile's southern coast, since it
opened last month.

Its turquoise waters are so crystal clear that you can see the bottom even in the deep end.

It dwarfs the world's second biggest pool, the Orthlieb - nicknamed the Big Splash - in Morocco, which is a mere 150 yards long and 100 yards wide. An Olympic size pool measures some 50 yards by 25 yards.

Chile's monster pool uses a computer- controlled suction and filtration system to keep fresh seawater in permanent circulation, drawing it in from the ocean at one end and pumping it out at the other.

The sun warms the water to 26c, nine degrees warmer than the adjoining sea.

Chilean biochemist Fernando Fischmann, whose Crystal Lagoons Corporation designed the pool, said advanced engineering meant his company could build 'an impressive artificial paradise' even in inhospitable areas.

As long as we have access to unlimited seawater, we can make it work, and it causes no damage to the ocean.

三十多年前有一位服務於公賣局台北啤酒廠的張先生，
參加該啤酒場
選派技術人員到國外深造的考試，
以優異的成績及格。
在出國前經某公立醫院體檢發現，

罹患有像小孩拳頭大小的肺部腫瘤，因而不能出國。

張先生非常失望之餘，一直懷疑診斷有誤；
於是再到另一家醫院檢查，
結果還是證實原來的診斷並無錯誤。

當時年輕力壯的張先生得到這樣的絕症，

在人生絕望之餘，
多次打電話給當時任職台東縣政府
黃順興縣長機要秘書的魏姓同學。

魏姓同學便利用星期日趕到台北和張先生見面，

張先生向魏同學詳述相關絕望的詳情和悲觀感受，
並請位同學協助其後事，
恰逢魏同學與前任馬偕醫院院長
1949－55年專精於癌症臨床研究的呂革令博士）

係知交好友。
當即建議前往訪求呂博士醫治，
起初張先生說不願再看醫生，以免徒增傷悲；

但魏同學說先前已以電話請教過呂博士並安排好時間，

張先生只好偕同前往呂博士住處造訪。

呂博士和張先生見面就說：
「魏先生是我的好友，介紹你和我認識是我們緣份，

感謝
上帝賜給我們這個機會；

我請教你：『癌為什麼叫絕症，你可知道嗎？』」

張先生和魏先生都不知道如何作答。

呂博士又說：「人類醫治癌症到目前為止只有兩條路，
第一條路是消滅病源，第二條路是增加抵抗力。

但很奇怪的是，癌無論用鈷60 或其他藥物去消滅癌細胞，
可是癌細胞還沒被消滅，好的細胞卻先被殺死。

另無論用什麼營養、補藥，好的細胞還未吸收，

癌細胞卻先吸收、讓癌長得更快；

因此可說上述兩條路都行不通、所以叫絕症。」

呂博士又說：

「人類的聰明連登陸月球也都已經成功，

但為什麼沒有人去懷疑上述兩條治癌的路是在鑽牛角尖，

另外找第三條路？

感謝上帝賜給我以往在馬偕醫
院做癌症方面的臨床實驗，

並得院內各部同仁協助的機會，

我發現
癌症病人血液檢查的結果百分之百都是酸性反應。

由於體質都偏屬優質弱鹼性，

所以尚沒有發現罹患癌症的病例。

因此我大膽的斷定在弱鹼性體質的狀態下，

癌細胞是無法生長、甚至是無法生存的。

張先生
我建議你從現在起少吃酸性的葷食類，
多吃鹼性食物，另外可吃綠藻和帶殼菱角湯，

一年後再到同一公立醫院檢查結果，
發現腫瘤不但沒有長大、反而已呈現萎縮狀態，
遂令醫院檢查人員驚為奇蹟，
五年後竟完全處於萎縮、至近於消失狀態。

為什麼會形成酸性體質？
1. 過度攝取乳酸性食品
a）肉類、乳酪製品與蛋、牛肉、火腿等皆屬於酸性食品。
b）攝取過量的酸性食品血液會傾向酸性而變黏稠，不易流到細血管的末稍，而易
造成手腳或膝蓋的冷寒症，以及肩膀僵硬和失眠等。
c）年輕力壯時吃適量的肉類是對的，但老年人則以蔬菜或小魚為宜。

2. 生活步調失常會造成酸性體質
a ）生活步調失常會造成精神與肉體的壓力。
b ）據統計，晚睡者罹患癌症的機率比正常人高出五倍。
c ）人類本來就活在節奏的世界裡，無法事先儲備睡眠或飲食，也不能日夜顛倒。
d）人體內臟受自律神經控制，白天主要是交感神經活動，晚上則由副交感神經工
作，若使其錯亂及倒置，就亦百病滋生。

3. 情緒過於緊張
a ）文明社會會造成的壓力。
b ）工作上或精神上的壓力。
c ）當一個人承受精神壓力後，一旦緊張鬆弛，時會造成猝死，稱為潛在性副腎皮質機能不全症。

4.肉體的緊張
a）動手術之前應先檢查腎上腺皮質機能是否正常。如果副腎皮質機能較差，或手術壓力遠超過副腎調整功能，則可能
造成病人死亡或其他不良影響。
b）若發現病患臉部浮腫，需詳加詢問病史及服藥狀況，為長期服用腎上腺皮質賀爾蒙者，施以針灸要特別注意反應。
c）勞動或運動過度，通宵打牌、開車等壓力都應盡量避免。

附錄：常見食物的酸鹼性

1. 強酸性食品：蛋黃、乳酪、白糖做的西點或柿子、烏魚子、柴魚等。

2.中酸性食品：火腿、培根、雞肉、鮪魚、豬肉、鰻魚、牛肉、麵包、小麥、奶油、馬肉等。

3. 弱酸性食品：白米、落花生、啤酒、酒、油炸豆腐、海苔、文蛤、章魚、泥鰍。

4. 弱鹼性食品：紅豆、蘿蔔、蘋果、甘藍菜、洋蔥、豆腐等。

5.中鹼性食品：蘿蔔乾、大豆、紅蘿蔔、蕃茄、香蕉、橘子、南瓜、草莓、蛋白、梅乾、檸檬、菠菜等。

The Deep Kindness of parents..

At one time , the Buddha dwelt at Shravasti , in the Jeta Grove , in the Garden of the Benefactor of Orphans and the Solitary , together wiyh a gathering of great Bhikshus , twelve hundred fifty in all , and with all of the Bodhisattvas , thirty-eight thousand in all .

At that time , the World Honored One led the great assembly on a walk toward the south . Suddenly they came upon a pile of bones beside the road .

The World Honored One turned to face them , placed his five limbs on the ground , and bowed respectfully .

Ananda and all the other disciples were not understand the reason why .

Ananda put his palms together and asked the World Honored One , " The Tathagatha is the Great Teacher of the Tripple Realm and the compassionate father of beings of the four kinds of births . he has respect and reverence of the entire assembly . "

" What is the reason that he now bows to a pile of dried bones ? "

The Buddha told Ananda , " Although all of you are many my foremost disciples and have been members of the Sangha for a long time , you still have not far-reaching understanding . "

" This pile of bones could have belonged to my ancestors from former lives . They could have been my parents in many past lives . "

" That is the reason I now bow to them . "

The Buddha continued speaking to Ananda . " These bones we are looking at can be divided into two groups . One group is composed of the men , Which are heavy and white in color . The other group is composed of the bones of women , which are light and black in color . "

Ananda said to the Buddha , " World Honored One , when men are alive in the world thet adorn their bodies with robes , belts , shoue , hats and other fine attire , so that they clearly assume a male apperance . "

" When women are alive , they put on cosmetics , perfumes , powders , and elegant fragrances to adorn their bodies , so that they clearly assume a female apperance . "

" Yet , once men and women die , all that is left are their bones , How does one tell them apart ? Please teach us how you are able distinguish them . "

The Buddha answered Ananda , " If when men are in the world enter temples , listen to explanations of Sutras and Vinava texts , make obeisance to the Tripple Jewel , and recite the Buddha's names , then when they die their bones will be heavy and white in colour ."

" Most women in the world have little wisdom and are saturated with emotion . They give birth to and raise children , feeling that this is their duty ."

" Each child relies on its mother's milk for life and nourishment , and that milk is a transformation of the mother's blood . Each child drinks one thousand two hundred gallons of its mother's milk . "

" Because of this drain on the mother's body whereby the child takes milk for its nourishment , the mother becomes worn and haggard and so her bones turn black in colour and are light in weight . "

when Ananda heard these words , he felt a pain in his heart as if he had been stabbed and wept silently . He said to the World Honored One , " How can one repay one's mother's kindness and virtue ? "

The Buddha told ananda , " Listen well , and I will explain it for you in detail . The fetus grows in its mother's womb for ten lunar month . What bitterness she goes through while it dwells there !

" in the first month of pregnancy , the life of the fetus is as precarious as a dewdrop on grass : how likely that it will not last from morning to evening but will evaporate by mid-day ! "

" During the second lunar month , the embryo congeals like curds . "

" In the third month it is like coagulated blood . During the fourth month of prenancy the fetus gegins to assume a slightly human form . "

" During the fifth month in the womb , the child's five limbs-two legs , two arms , and a head--start to take shape . "

" In the sixth lunar month of pregnancy , the child begins to develop the essences of the six sence faculties : the eyes , ears , nose , tougue , body and mind . "

" During the seventh month , the three hundred sixty bones and joints are formed...."

" And the eighty-four thousand hair pores are also complete . "

" In the eight lunar month of the pregnancy the intellect and the nine apertures are formed . "

" By the ninth month the fetus has learned to assimilate the different nutrients of the foods it eats . "

" The coagulation of the mother's blood from her internal organs forms a single substance , which becomes the child's food . "

" During the teeth month of pregnancy , the body of the fetus is completed and ready to be born . "

" If the child is extremely fifial , it will emerge with palms joined together in respect and the birth will be peaceful and auspicious . "

" The mother will remain uninjured by the birth and will not suffer pain . "

" However , if the child is extremely rebellious in nature , to the extent that it is capable of commiting rebellious acts , then it will injure its mother's womb . "

" The birth will feel like the slices of a thousand knives or like ten thousand sharp swords stabbing her heart . "

" Those are the agonies involved in the birth of a defliant and rebellious child . "

" To explain more clearly , there are ten types of kindness bestowed by the mother on the child : "

" The first is the kindness of providing protection and care while the child is in the womb . "

" The second is the kindness of bearing suffering during the birth . "

" The third is the kindness of forgetting all the pain once the child has been born . "

" The fourth is the kindness of eating the bitter herself and saving the sweet for the child . "

" The fifth is the kindness of moving the child to a dry and lying in the wet herself . "

" The sixth is the kindness of suckling the child at her breast and nouriching and bringing up the child . "

" The seventh is the kindness of washing away the unclean . "

" The eighth is the kindness of always thinking of the child when it has travelled far . "

" The ninth is the kindness of deep care and devotion . "

" The teeth is the kindness of ultimate pity and sympathy . "

" The kindness of providing protection and care while the child is in the womb . The causes and conditions from accumulated kalpas grows heavy : "

" Until in this life the child ends up in its mother's womb . "

" As the months pass , the five vital organs develop . within seven weeks the six sense organs start to grow . "

" The mother's body becomes as heavy as a mountain . "

" The stillness and movements of the fetus are like a kalpic wind disaster . "

" The mother's fine clothes no longer hang properly . And so her mirror gathers dust . "

" The pregnancy lasts for ten lunar months . And culminates in difficult labour at the approach of the birth . "

" Meanwhile , each morning the mother is seriously ill . And during every day is drowsy and sluggist . "

" Her fear and agitation are difficult to describe . Grieving and tears fill her breast . "

" She painfully tells her family that she is only afraid that death will overtake her ....child "

" One the day the compassionate mothers bears the child , her five organs all open wide , leaving her totally exhausted in body and mind . "

" The blood flows as from a slaughtered lamb . "

" Yet , upon hearing that the child is healthy....."

" She is overcome with redoubling joy.... "

" But after the joy , the grief returns , and the agony wrenches her very insides . "

" The kindness of both parents is profound and deep . Their care and devotion never cease . "

" Never resting , the mother saves the sweet for the child . And without complaint she swallows the bitter herself . "

" Her love is weighty and her emotion difficult to bear . Her kindness is deep and so is her compassion . "

" The kindness of moving the child to a dry place and lying in the wet herself . "

" Only wanting the child to get its fill , the compassionate mother does't speak of her own hunger . "

" The mother is willing to be wet . So that the child can be dry . "

" With her two breasts she satisfies its hunger and thirst . "

" Covering it with her sleeve , she protects it from the wind and cold . "

" In kindness , her head rarely rest on the pillow . So long as the child is comfortable , the kind mother seeks no solace for herself . "

" The kind mother is like the great earth . "

" The stern father is like the encompassing heaven . One covers from above ; the other supports from below . "

" The kindness of parents is such that they know no hatred or anger toward their offspring . "

" And are not displeased , even if the child is born crippled . "

" The parents care for and protect it together until the end of their days . "

" Originally she had a pretty face and a beautiful body . "

" Her spirit was strong and vibrant . Her eyebrows were like fresh green willows . "

" And her complexion would have put a red rose to shame . "

" But her kindness is so deep she will forego a beautiful face . "

" Although washing away the filth injures her constituion . "

" The kind mother acts solely for the sake of her sons and daughters , and willingly allows her beauty to fade . "

" the death of loved ones is difficult to endure . "

" But separation is also painful , when the child travels afar . "

" The mother worries in her village . From morning until night , her heart is with her child . "

" And a thousand tears fall from her eyes . "

" like the monkey weeping silently in love for her child . Bit-by-bit her heart is broken . "

" How heavy is the parents' kindness and emotional concern ! Their kindness is deep and difficult to repay . "

" Willingly they undergo suffering on their child's behalf . "

" If the child toils , the parents are uncomfortable . "

" If they hear that he has travelled afar , they worry that at night have to lie in the cold . "

" Even a moment's pain suffered by their sons or daughters , will cause the parents sustained distress . "

' The kindness of parents is profound and important . Their tender concern never ceases . "

" From the moment they awake each day , their thoughts are with their children . "

" Even if a mother lives for a hundred years , she will constantly worry about her eighty-year-old child ! "

" Do you wish to know when such kindness and love ends ? It doesn't even begin to dissipate until her life is over . "

The buddha told Ananda , " When I contemplate living beings , I see that...."

" Although they are born as human beings , nonetheless , they are stupid and dull in their thoughts and actions . "

" They don't consider their parents' great kindness and virture . They are disrespectful and turn their backs on kindness and what is right . The lack humaneness and are neither filial nor complaint . "

" For ten months while the mother is with child , she feels discomfort each time she rises , as if she were lifting a heavy burden . "

" Like a chronic invalid , she is unable to keep her food and drink down . "

" When the ten months have passed and the time comes for the birth , she undergoes all kinds of pain and suffering so that the child can be born . "

" Once the child is born , she saves what is sweet for him and swallows what is bitter herself . She carries the child and nourishes it , washing away its filth . "

" There is no toil or difficulty that she does not willingly undertake for the sake of her child . "

" She gives the dry place to her child and sleeps in the dump herself . "

" For three years she nourishes the baby with milk , which is transformed from the blood of her own body . "

" Parents continually instruct and guide their children in the ways of propriety and morality as the youngster mature into adults . "

" They arrange marriages for them and provide them with property and wealth of devise ways to get it for them . "

" They take this responsibility and trouble upon themselves with tremendous zeal and toil . "

" Parents never speaking about their care and kindness . "

" When a son or daughter becomes ill , parents are worried and afraid to the point that they may even grow ill themselves . "

" They remain by the child's side providind constant care , and only when the child gets well are the parents happy once again . "

" In this way , they care for and raise their children with the sustained hope that their offspring will soon grow to be mature adults . "

" How sad that all too often the children are unfilial in return ! "

" When they ought to be polite , they have no manners . They glare at those whom they should venerate , and insult their uncles and aunts . "

" Rarely will they rely upon the guidance of their parents . They are contrary and rebellious when interacting with their brothers . "

" They come and go from home without ever reporting to their parents . Their speech and actions are very arrogant and they act on impulse without consulting others . "

" Such children ignore the admonishments and punishments set down by their parents and pay no regard to their uncles' warnings . "

" As such children grow up , they become more and more obstinate and uncontollable . They are entirely ungrateful and totally contrary . "

" They befriend evil people and under their influence soon adopt the same kinds of bad habits . They come to take what is false to be true . "

" Such children may be enticed by others to leave their families and run away to live in other towns ,thus denouncing their parents and rejecting their native town...."

" They may become salesmen or evil servants who languist in comfort and luxury . "

" They may marry in haste and that new bond provides yet another obstruction which prevents them from returning home for long periods of time . "

" Or , in going to live in other towns , these children may be incautions and find themselves plotted agaist or occused of doing evil . "

" They may be unfairly locked up in prison . or they may meet with illness and become enmeshed in disasters and hardships...."

" subject to the terrible pain of poverty , starvation , and emaciation . Yet no one there will care for them . "

" Being scorned and disliked by others , they will be abondaned on the street . No one bothers to try to save them . "

"Their bodies swell up , rot , decay . and are exposed to the sun and blown away by the wind . These children will never again have a happy reunion with their relatives and kin . "

" Nor will they know how their ageing parents mourn for and worry about them . "

" The parents may grow blind from weeping or become sick from extreme grief and despair . "

" Constantly dwelling on the memory of their children...."

" They may pass away , but even when they become ghosts , their souls still cling to this attachment and are unable to let it go . "

" Others of these unfilial children may not aspire to learning , but instead become interested in strange and bizarre doctrines . "

" Such children may be villainous , coarse , and stubborn , delighting in practices that are utterly devoid of benefit . "

" They may become involved in fights and thefts , setting themselves at odds with the town by drinking and gambling . "

" If such children do live at home , they leave early in the morning and do not return until late at night . "

" Never do they ask about the welfare of their parents or make sure that they don't suffer from heat or cold . "

" They do not inquire after their parents' well being , nor even on the first and fifteenth of the lunar month . "

" In fact , it never occurs to these unfilial children to ever ask whether their parents have slept comfortably or rested peacefully . "

" Such children are simply not concerned in the least about their parents' well being ."

" If they ever attempt to help their parents out in any way , they feel embarrassed and are afraid people will laugh at them . "

" Yet , such offspring may lavish wealth and food on their own wives and children , disregarding the toil and weariness involved in doing so . "

" The solitary parents are left alone in empty houses . Unfilial sons be so intimidated by their wives with all of their wishes . "

" But when appealed to by their parents and elders , they ignore them and are totally unfazed by their pleas . "

" It may be the case that the daughters were quite filial to their parents before their own marriages , but that they become progressively rebellious after they marry . "

" This situation may be so extreme that if their parents show even the slightest signs of displeasure , the daughters become hateful and vengeful toward them . "

" The emotional bonds between such couples are deeply entangled and yet those daughters hold their parents at a distance . "

" They may follow their husbands and move to other towns , leaving their parents behind entirely . "

" When the parents continue to hear no word from their daughters , they feel incessant anxiety . They become so fraught with sorrow that it is as if they were suspended upside down . "

" Their every thought is of seeing their children , just as one who is thirsty longs for something to drink . Their kind thoughts for their offspring never cease . "

" The virtue of one's parents' kindness is boundless and limitless . If one has made the mistake of being unfilial , how difficult it is to repay that kindness ! "

" Upon hearing the Buddha speak about the depth of one's parents'kindness , eveyone on the ground and began striking themselves until all their hairpores flowed with blood . "

" Some fell unconscious to the ground , while others stamped their feet in grief . "

With loud voice they lamented , " Such suffering ! How painful ! How Painful !"

" We are all offenders . We are criminals who have never awakened , like those who travel in a dark night . "

" We have just now understood our offenses and very insides are torn to bits . "

" Please tell us how we can repay the deep kindness of our parents ! "

" We only hope that the World Honored One will pity us and save us . "

The Tathagata used eight kinds of profoundly deep and pure sounds to speak to the assembly . " All of you should know this . I will explain for you the various aspects of this matter . "

" If there were a person who carries his father on his left shoulder and his mother on his right shoulder until his bones were ground to powder by their weight..."

"....And if that person were to circumambulate Mount Sumeru for a hundred thousand kalpas until the blood that flowed out from his feet covered his ankles , that person would still not have repayed the deep kindness of his parents . "

" If there were a person who , during the period of a kalpas fraught with famine and starvation , sliced the flesh off his own body...."

"...To feed his parents and did this as many times as he passed through hundreds of thousand of kalpas , that person still would not have repayed the kindness of his parents . "

" If there were a person who , for the sake of his parents . took a sharp knife and cut out his heart and made an offering of them to the Tathagates..."

"...And continued to do that for hundreds of thousands of kalpas , that person still would not have repayed the deep kindness of his parents . "

" If there were a person who ,used a sharp knife to cut out his heart and liver so that the blood flowed and covered the ground , to do this for hundreds of thousands of kalpas , that person still would not have repayed the deep kindness of his parents . "

" If there were a person who , for the sake of his parents , took a hundred thousand swords and stabbed his body , that person still would not have rapayes the deep kindness of his parents . "

" If there were a person who , beat his bones down to the marrow , that person still would not have repayed the deep kindness of his parents . "

" If there were a person who , for the sake of his parents , swallowed molten iron pellets...."

"....And continued in this way to do this for hundreds of thousands of kalpas , that person still would not have repayed the deep kindness of his parents . "

At the time , upon hearing the Buddha speak about the kindness and virtue of parents , everyone in the Great Assembly wept silent tears and felt searing pain in their hearts .

They reflected deeply , simultaneously brought forth shame and said to the Buddha , " World Honored One , how can we repay the deep kindness of our parents ? "

The Buddha replied , " Disciples of the Buddha , if you wish to repay our parents' kindness...."

" Write out this Sutra on their behalf . Repent of transgressions and offenses on their behalf . For the sake of your parents , make offerings to the Tripple Jewel . "

" For the sake of your parents ,hold the precept of pure eating . For the sake of your parents , practice giving and cultivate blessings . If you are able to do these things , you are being a filial child . "

The Buddha told Ananda , " If a person is not filial , when life ends and his body decays , he will fall into the Spaceless , Avici Hell . "

" A mass of fire burns fiercely , while thunder roars and bright bolts of lightning set things afire . Molten brass and iron fluids are poured over the offenders'bodies ."

" Brass dogs and iron snakes constantly spew out fire and smoke which burns the offenders and broils their flesh and fat to a pulp . "

" Oh , such suffering ! There are poles , hooks , spears , and lances , iron halberds and iron chains , iron hammers , and iron awls . "

" The offender is chopped , hacked , or stabbed , and undergoes these cruel punishments for kalpas without respite . "

" Then they enter the remaining hells , where their heads are capped with fiery basins , while iron wheels roll over their bodies..."

" passing both horizontally and vertically until their guts are ripped open and their bones and flesh are squashed to a pulp . "

" Such sufferings are a result of committing the five rebellious acts and of being unfilial when one was alive . "

" Upon hearing the Buddha speak about the virtue of parents' kindness , everyone wept sorrowfully and addressed the Tathagata , " On this day , how can we repay the deep kindness of our parents ?"

The Buddha said , " Disciples of the Buddha , if you wish to repay their kindness , then for the sake of your parents print this Sutra . If one can print one copy , then one will get to see one Buddha ."

" If one can print one hundred copies , then one will get to see one hundred Buddhas . If one can print one thousand-ten thousand copies , then one will get to see one thousand , ten thousand Buddhas ."

" All Buddha will forever protect people with their kindness and can immediately cause the parents to be reborn in the heavens , to enjoy all kinds of happiness....."

Ananda and the rest of the asuras , garudas , people , non-people , and others ,as well as the gods , dragons , and all the lesser kings --felt all the hairs on their bodies....

They wept grievously and each one of them made a vow saying , " All of us , from now until the exhaustion of the bounds of the future...."

" Would rather that our bodies be pulverized into small particles of dust for a hundred thousand kalpas....."

" Than to ever go agaist the Thus Come One's sagely teachings . We would rather that our tongues be plucked out !"

" So that they would extend for a full yojana , and that for a hundred thousand kalpas...."

" An iron plough would run over them ; we would rather have a hundred-thousand bladed wheel roll freely over our bodies ; than ever go agaist the Tathagata's sagely teachings !"

" We would rathr that our bodies be ensnared in an iron net for a hundred thousand kalpas , than ever go agaist the Tathagata's sagely teachings ."

" We would rather that for a hundred thousand kalpas our bodies be chopped , and chiselled into million pieces . Our skin , flesh would be completely disintegrated , than ever go agaist the Tathagate's sagely teachings ."

Ananda , rose from his seat and asked the Buddha , " Would Honored One , what name shall this Sutra have when we accord with it and uphold it ?"

The Buddha told Ananda , " This Sutra is called THE SUTRA ABOUT THE DEEP KINDNESS OF PARENTS AND THE DIFFICULTY OF REPAYING IT ."

At that time , the Great Assembly , the gods , human , asuras , and the others , hearing what the Buddha has said , were completely delighted .

They believed it , received it , and offered up their conduct in accord with it , and then bowed and withdrew .

If a man is born handsome and a woman beautiful , it is because in the past , they practised hospitality and were charitable to others .

A truly charitable person will perform charitable deeds without the thought of getting name or rewards . To expect name and rewards in doing charity is selfish . Such motives , in the name of charity , will only lead to demerits and creating future karmic afflictions .

By cutting down and burning trees will result in having a short life or be separated from one's family . This is because insects and worms and the homes of birds are destroyed , thus resulted in their being separated from their families .

If in the past or present life one users cruel and inhumane ways to torture or kill people and animals , in this life one will meet with tragic death .

Creatingbad karmic reactions is like being in debts . To be free of such bitter fruits is like being free of debtors . To patiently accept such bitterness is better ; it is like paying up all our debts . We may now escape not paying up our debts , but our debtors will keep haunting us until all oue debts are settled .

Not all retributive actions will have their reactions appearing in this life . Sometimes their reaction appear in the next life . If the conditions are not right , the reactions will appear in the next few life -times or in other future life-times .

Giving to charity is like depositing money into the bank . Receiving charity is like withdrawing money from the savings in the bank . Enjoying blessings is like taking out money from the bank and spending it .

A person is good-looking but is looked-down upon ; this is because in the past one had an accomodating heart and practised precepts , but had despised others .

A person who does good will also receive good ; If he does a bad deed , A bad result he will receive . But due to many bad actions in the past , The bad results have not all come to pass . Alike bad debts that are not paid , Karma follows us just as debtors wait . Untill all our Karmic debts are done , only then will blessings come .

A person's wealth poverty , beauty or ugliness , long or short life , birth and death , is all destined . One's destiny is the result of one's past thoughts , deeds and speech .

In the past life if we criticised and incriminated others , in this life we shall be born deaf , mute , and dumb .

In the past lives , we planted good seeds therefore in this life we reap the fruits of our good actions : Freedom , Peace and Happiness .

LOngevity and Compassion are closely related , just like ' Humaneness is Longevity '. Having Humanity and the Compassion of No-Killing is the source of Longevity .

A charitable family accumulates good merits ; its descendants will definitely become prosperous . A family that does unwholesome deeds accumulates demerits ; its descendants will definitely meet with unexpected calamities .

All diseases are actually caused by our past unwholesome thoughts and bad karma . That is why it is said :" All sicknesses ( PHENOMENA )are the manifestations of the Mind ."

If in the past or present life one easily gets angry ,a revulsive and ugly person one will be born to be .

At the moment I am healthy and seldom fall sick ; this must due to my past or perphaps because of certain compassionate deeds I have done in this life . In this life , I should be more caring and should prevent the killing of animals . When one is happy and contented , it is the best time to do more good deeds and accumulate merits .

Even a good and compassionate person may suffer from various difficulties and may live a short life ; thus is because the evil karmic actions of his past life have ripened first , while this life's good karmic actions have yet to ripen .

Life is the most precious in the world . Under Heaven taking a life is the most cruel . To harm and kill--what a terrible ordeal ! Even tiny ants scurry away from our heels ! What more the un-thinking-Man==who also can FEEL?!

A person is rich but lives a short life ; this is because in the past one was generous but did harm to animals and also killed them .

If in this life one ill-treat animals , offends and beats up people , neglects one's parents....in one's next life one will be beset with all kinds of illnesses .

Why is it that some people are born with hare-lips ? It is because in the past they used hooks to fish , causing much hurt to the fish .

The reason why one is always mistakenly thrown into prison is because in one's past life , one often put animals into cages .

If in the past , we always looked down upon others , in this life we will be born undersized and dwarfish .

Although you may provide food to animals you keep in cages , but you are depriving them of their freedom . Your next life may be long ., but you will live with limited freedom . As such , keeping animals in capacity is not worth doing , rather let them be free .

A selfish miser in the past life will come as a pauper in this life .

By giving food to the birds and hoping for them not to look for worms to eat , will lessen the birds' opportunity to kill and indirectly will help us to accumulate merits .

If one has a jealous heart , despises others , criticises and scandalizes practitioners of the Way ,..in one's next life , one will have poor , if any , affinities with others .

If in this life one's hobby is netting fish and trapping birds and animals , in the next life one will be separated from one's kith and kin , from one's parents , brothers , sisters , spouse and children .

To live a long life but is poor ; this is because in the past one loved animals but was stingy and miserly .

Those who have harmed or killed animals in the past will have short life .

If in this life one steals and robs without shame , and has never practised sharing ang giving ,... in one's next life one will suffer from poverty .

The karmic acts of killing animals will have bad results for all of us . In the Buddhist Sutra it states : To commit killing will result in sickness and untimely deaths .

If in this life one loves and enjoys hunting , in the next life one will suffer from chronic nervousness to the point of insanity .

The reason why one is easily frightened in this life is because in one's past life , one had always used scary objects to threaten people .

If in this life one eats excessively and wastes food , in the next life one will suffer from hunger pangs and throat problems .

When one do good and yet receive bad results , one should quickly repent one's evil actions of one's past life . One should not start to blame on others or criticize , saying doing good deeds will not bring good results .

If in this life one practises Compassion and Equanimity and avoid killing , and is always happy to help others... in one's next life one will have a long life-span .

Nobody can escape death . When a person leaves the world he takes along nothing with him , except his karmic seeds of good or bad deeds . It is said :" At death not even one of 10000 things we can bring ; Except only the karmic seeds of every deeds we did ."

All the ill-omens and bad luck that we encounter in this life is a direct resultbof our past evil actions and thoughts .

If in this life one likes to fight , enjoy killing animals and destroying their homes , and is happy when someone one dislikes has passed away...in one's next life the life-span will be short .

A person is rich but is revulsive and ugly ; this is because in the past one was generous but easily lost one's temper .

Behaving proud and arrogant in the past life will result in being born despicable and lowly in this life .

Those who ill-treat animals in the past or in this present life will meet with many sicknesses in life .

Because you were too stingy to donate to charity in your previous life .

Because you have donated food to monasteries in your previous life .

Because you have distorted-truths and misled others in your previous life .

Why in this-life you have wry mouth ?

Because you have intentionally blown out candles before the Buddha's altar in your previous life .

Why in this-life you are dumb and deaf ?

Because you have vituperated your parents in your previous life .

Why in this-life you are hunch back ?

Because you jeered at Buddha's followers in your previous life .

Why in this-life you have disabled hands ?

Because you have committed evils with your hands in your previous life .

Why in this-life you have lame-legs ?

Because you were a robber in your previous life .

Why in this-life you are born as a horse or an ox ?

Because you have never paid your debts in your previous life .

Why in this-life you are born as a pig or dog ?

Because you have deceived and harmed others in your previous life .

Why in this-life you suffer from constant illness ?

Because you have offered flesh meat to monks in your previous life .

Why in this-life you are healthy ?

Because you have offered medicine to cure the sick people in your previous life .

Why in this-life you are imprisoned ?

Because you have relentlessly committed evils in your previous life .

Why in this-life you are starved tp death ?

Because you have plugged snake-pit and mouse holes in your previous life .

Why in this-life you die of poison ?

Because you intentionally poisoned a river or water source in your previous life .

Why un this-life you are forlorn and friendless ?

Because you were unfaithful and deceitful to others in your previous life .

Why in this-life you are born as a dwarf ?

Because you have read and written sutra on the floor in your previous life .

Why in this-life you spew blood ?

Because you have eaten meat while praying in your previous life .

Why in this-life you are deaf ?

Because you have attended Buddhist instructions with levity in your previous life .

Why in this-life you are afflicted with ulcers ?

Because you have offered meat before the Buddha's altar in your previous life .

Why in this-life you have bodily odor ?

Because you have sold incense with dishonesty in your previous life .

Why in this-life you die by hanging yourself ?

Because you hunted animals by using ropes and nets in your previous life .

Why in this-life you are bereft of a spouse ?

Because you have been unduly envious and jealous in your previous life .

Why in this-life you are struck by lightning or burnt by fire ?

Because you have committed dishonest trading with customer in your previous life .

Why in this-life you are wounded by beasts or snakes ?

Because you have created enemies in your previous life .

Whether you reaped or you sowed .

If you suffer in hell ,blame yourself for what you did in your previous life.

If you in this-life recite the Cause and Effect Sutra .

You will be respected by many people in your next life .

If you in this-life print and distribute the Cause and Effect Sutra free to all...

You will become a leader to humanity in your next life .

If you douth that eating vegetarian is cultivating charity .

Witness the happy and prosperous people around you .

It is good to cultivate giving to the Triple Gems .

You will free from disaster and calamity .

Do not think that the Cause and Effect is fallacious .

It will manifest either immediately of later in your life .

If you spread the truth of the Cause and Effect Sutra..

You will be wise and intelligent in life-after-life .

You are a Minister or an Officer in this-life .

You gain the fruits because you cultivated with pain in your previous life .

If you in this-life insult the Cause and Effect Sutra .

You are no longer a human being in your next life .

If in this-life you transcribe the Cause and Effect Sutra .

The generations will be smart scholar and lived happily .

If you recite and act according to the Cause and Effect Sutra .

Whatever you do will be withnessed by the Buddhas and Bodhisattva .

It is impossible to exhaust the speaking of the Law of Cause and Effect .

The fruit of a good deed will come in due course .

The good cause you have accomplished in your previous life will be the foundation of your good fortune .

The good seeds you have planted in this-life will give you good fruiths in your next-life .

If you doubt the efficacy of Cause and Effect .

See how Maugalyayana could save his mother from suffering .

The Cause and Effect must not be traeted as a small matter .

The Buddha's words are truth, you must not slight .

If people deeply believe in the Cause and Effect Sutra .

This will bring them together to the land of Utimate Bliss.

送便當的媽媽
中午，我站在學校大門口當交通導護，幫助一年級的小朋友放學。
卓新勇的母親，悄手悄腳提著一個便當在校門口。被我一喊，她露出不好意思的表情。
「老師啊！．．．」
「哎呀！我不是跟妳講了嗎？學校不喜歡家長替孩子送便當。
如果每個媽媽都像妳這樣，學校大門就擠滿了人，那樣，我們怎麼放學呢？」
「我知道！我知道！」
哼！知道了還送，簡直是明知故犯。
「妳不會讓他自己帶便當嗎！」
「我知道！我知道！」
這些話，不曉得說了幾次。
每次一到中午，送便當的家長和放學的一年級小朋友，
常常相撞在一起，造成相當的困擾。
　
卓新勇是一位沈默寡言，乖巧內向的孩子。
有次上課，他竟然打瞌睡，我很訝異，把他叫起來。
「怎麼了？」他一臉迷惘站起來，不回答。
第二天上課，也是這樣，我實在受不了，狠狠地把他叫過來。
「你到底怎麼了？」
我已經氣得半死，口氣已經控制不住。
突然，他垂頭淌下淚水。我暗自一驚。
「說呀！到底為什麼上課要打瞌睡呢？」
我媽媽住院了！昨天一直在醫院陪她。」
我一聽愣住了，頓時，心中的怒氣消失了，代之而起的是無限慚愧，
「她為什麼住院呢？」
「是肺癌！」我一聽，心都涼到腳底。
心中想到身體贏弱的卓新勇。
如果，不幸那天來臨，他將如何繼續往後漫長的歲月呢？
想到這兒，不禁鼻酸。吃飯時，妻子在餵兒子吃飯，
我不禁想起，以前卓新勇的母親偷偷摸摸替他送便當。
　
第二天下班後，我騎著機車到醫院探望他母親。
幾個禮拜沒見，卓新勇的母親瘦得不成人形，蒼白的臉，
光禿的頭，簡直不敢相信就是她。
她看到我，顯得很驚訝，努力想站起來，但是，一咳嗽，整個人歪了一邊。
「不要站起來！不要站起來！」
「老師！謝﹍﹍謝謝你！」她吃力喊著，眼眶消出淚水。
在醫院的走廊，卓新勇的父親對我說：
「只剩下兩個月了！嗚！我﹍真的不知要怎麼辦？」他老淚縱橫。
　
回到學校，報告校長。
「他爸爸已經六十多歲了，現在母親又將離開人間，
是不是我們可以發動全校募款。
不管多少，都可以幫助他。」校長爽快答應。
經過幾天募款活動，我們總算募到五萬二千一百二十元。
把錢送到醫院時，卓新勇的母親已經在昏迷中。
「我們準備今天送他回家！」卓新勇的父親，臉形憔悴得發白。
我一聽，心頭抽搐一陣。
「老師！能不能幫個忙？」
「請說！我能夠做到的，我一定答應。」
「他前幾天，一直拉著卓新勇的手，喊著：媽媽不能再替你送便當了！
我想，請老師再讓她送最後一次便當，只有送便當時，
他才真正感受到一位為人母親的榮耀。」
聽到這兒，我百感交集地點點頭。
　
中午，一輛救護車呼拉拉開到學校大門口。
卓親勇的父親和一名醫護人員，推著擔架上的人。
我淚水盈眶，站在旁邊，伴當交通導護老師。
「到了！到了！」卓新勇的父親買了一個便當，
躺在擔架上的卓新勇的母親，伸出瘦細蒼白的手提著便當，
在旁邊人員推送下，慢慢靠近大門口的鐵門。
在鐵門的另一邊，卓新勇伸出右手，接過母親的便當。
「媽！」卓新勇嚎啕大哭。
這時，我清楚見到她母親瘦削的臉頰，抽搐了一下，彷彿想說話，
但是，又說不出來。
「媽！我不要！我不要妳走！」卓新勇呼天搶地叫著。
我的淚水，再也控制不住，嘩嘩而落。
我暗恨自己，以前是多麼殘忍！
　
隔天，卓新勇的母親就去世了。
卓新勇的母親出殯後。
一天，卓新勇的父親來到我辦公室，遞給我一包牛皮紙。
老師！這是你和學生們幫助我的錢，我認為還有更多的學生，
需要這筆錢，所以，還給你們。謝謝你熱心幫忙。」
說完，錢一放，就掉頭離去。
這筆錢彷彿生熱似的，直燙著我心坎。
我天天找卓新勇聊天話家常。深怕他經不起喪母的打擊。
「老師！你放心！我很好！你不要一直替我擔心！」
卓新勇對我說「我很早就知道，我母親就要死了，
我也不是不想聽你話，叫媽媽不要送便當。
因為，一天當中，只有中午，我才能吃到我媽媽煮的飯。」
我心頭一凜，「為什麼呢？」
她很虛弱，家裡都是爸爸在煮飯。
只有中午爸爸不在，她才能偷偷背著爸爸煮飯。
是她堅持要送便當的。」說完，卓新勇淌出淚水。
　
～趁著父母建在的時候，好好的孝順他們喔！不然........將來後悔也就來不及了！
一直以為幸福在遠方，在可以追逐的未來。
我的雙眼保持著眺望，我的雙耳仔細聆聽，唯恐疏忽錯過。
後來才發現 ---那些握過的手，唱過的歌，流過的淚，愛過的人 ......
所謂的曾經，就是幸福
